I was watching the Scott Teneman episode the other day. Fucking hilarious. One of my favorite parts is when Cartman gives Scott the chili and says "Do you like it Scott. I hoped you would. I call it Mr. and Mrs. Teneman chili." I was dying. This is the most fucked up I think Cartman has ever been.

When I want political/social commentary, I always expect South Park to deliver and entertain me. They never fail.

Yes fantastic I didn't imagine it would be so soon.
South Park has to be one of the most consistantly funny shows ever. They sometimes have some duds (eg. the one with Towelie in the Oprah show) but 90% of the time they are awesome.

I can't wait for this season to start, should be awesome as usual. I also find it pretty fucking cool that they constantly joke about their own show, like the Family Guy two parter and they had had the kids discuss a "show" that forces a message onto their viewers.
I hold the firm belief that Trey Parker is one of the best comedy writers of our time.

Yeah I felt this episode was mostly about the HIV positive joke and the fact that rich people(Magic) don't have to worry about aids killing them.
That'd be awfully lame if that was their intention though, to diminish Magic's HIV infection. Yes, he's better off than a lot of those people in Africa, but why is that an issue.

I thought it was alright...the news segment with the camel toe and the camel toe pic being an exact match of her in the train conductor scene, lol.
It wasn't about making fun of britney as much as the media/paparazzi making a big deal of her but oh well whatever. Like the "moral" leitmotif came in the middle of the ep when Butters was edifying Stan and company to just leave her alone.
Both episodes have been crap so far. Doesn't bode well :<
In a South Park homage to the 1981 film, "Heavy Metal", the boys are trying to get Kenny off the latest drug craze that's captured the junior high and under set.

After I saw him I was waiting in anticipation for Afro Ninja to backflip, fall, get up and swing his nunchucks erratically. I wasn't aware that guy was even a popular meme.
Addendum: I also was not aware this existed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbGkxcY7YFU now Butter's what what in the butt song isn't as funny.
you never knew about what what in the butt?
thats pretty old and amazing. my housemates and i nearly shit ourselves laughing at all the internet stuff. they had the dramatic look and backflip afro ninja guy down perfectly

Can't wait to watch this episode, I love Butters Scotch.
Easily the best episode of the season. I loved that they had those two asian kids in Yao jerseys who lip synced to the Back Street Boys, but didn't even utilize them.
And I had no idea about the "what what" video being a parody of an actual video. Butters version > That one.

I guess I'm in the minority here.
It was an okay episode.
But it seemed like an episode with "Meet the Spartans" kind of humor. Not that I've seen Meet the Spartans.
Way too many pop culture references.
I don't know.
Not saying it was bad.. I just thought it was decent.

yeah i was getting that vibe alot especially during the Youtube characters part, but i think it was all offset by the brilliant decision to compare the Canadians with the WGA. Theoretical dollars was a smart idea too.

those spoof movies are filled with non sequiturs (just like family guy). the big difference between these pop culture culture references and the ones in those movies is that these references actually have relevance to the plot of the episode.
come to think of it, i think this was discussed in the cartoon wars episode. nvm. just watch that.

I think they were referring to the internet celeb/meme scene that went on for awhile, which did pander only to our recognition of those memes. They could've stuck any internet meme in there, as long as it was popular enough to recognize, and it would've been the same thing plot-wise.
With that said, afro ninja! come on!

man the animation on this show improved by a 1000 this episode.
they should have gotten rid of the Chinese subplot and just centered the whole episode on Indiana Jones. It would have made it better.
and those rape scenes were pretty traumatizing. way to call back to "The Accused" and "Deliverence"
Started off a little slow but had me laughing pretty hard towards the end.

Cassidy
10-09-2008, 04:45 PM
Yeah, didn't disappoint.
I loved it when the SWAT guy got shit in the dick and he said 'it stings...ohhhh"
So great.
It was funny because I was watching SPACED which has a lot of referential humor.
Matt Stone, one of the creators of SOUTH PARK, did commentary for a couple episodes.
And Simon Pegg, in one episode, is a HUGE Star Wars fan...and he is traumatized by the Phantom Menace. But the way it effects his life is so hilarious (burning all his Star Wars shit; fired from his comic book job because he berates children who want to buy Jar Jar Binks shit, etc, etc.)
South Park did a lot of the same last night...and Matt Stone, Simon Pegg, and Edgar Wright were bashing the newer Star Wars movies so badly in the commentary tracks.
So it was nice to see a startrooper getting raped too.
With George Lucas involved, that seemed inevitable.
did anyone need this uploaded?
